Correction to your correction, but Walt was a genius when it came to story and character, and Ub was a genius when it came to animation and technology. Walt would've never gotten Mickey off the ground without Ub's talented and FAST help, and Ub could never get his own cartoons off the ground because his stories were weak and his characters unlikeable compared to Walt's.

Well technically he appeared in out of the inkwell (at least the basis of the character) and also the alice comedies both early in Disney's career

Well, i can see why most would rather consider Steamboat Willie as Mickey's first appearance. In this one, Mickey's more... rude than your typical Mickey Mouse.
